2nd WAVE International Scholars’ Special Lecture and Mentoring Program Successfully Concluded

The Department of Economics at Sungkyunkwan University successfully concluded the WAVE International Scholar Lectures and the WAVE Tutorial/Mentoring Program. From Monday, May 20th to Saturday, May 25th, a week-long event was held featuring esteemed scholars: Eminent Research Professor Robert I. Webb from the University of Virginia, Professor Gilbert Park from Willamette University, Professor Maria Kim from the University of Wollongong, Professor Jens Müller-Merbach from Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, and Professor Jin-young Yu from Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. These scholars visited Sungkyunkwan University to deliver lectures on Financial Economics, conduct face-to-face consultations, and provide guidance on student research papers.

This program was supported by the Office of Academic Affairs (Director: Prof. Bae Sang-hoon), the BK21 Four Education Research Group of the Department of Economics (Group Leader: Prof. Kim Sung-hyun), the ICT Innovation Talent 4.0 Project Group (Head: Prof. Park Eun-il), and the Global Finance Research Center (Director: Prof. Ryu Doo-jin).

Professor Ryu Doo-jin of the Department of Economics, who oversaw the WAVE lectures, stated, “Starting from the beginning of the semester, our students received online advice on presentation content, research topics, and methodologies from the five international scholars. These scholars then visited our university’s Global Finance Research Center to provide lectures, mentoring, and research guidance in person. In line with the center's purpose of the establishment to 『Fostering the Next Generation of Global Scholars』, we plan to have undergraduate and graduate students involved in the research project visit prominent international universities and institutions after this semester's WAVE classes conclude. This will facilitate further research discussions and expand international exchange and collaboration.”
