Gaya Nadarajan (Sungkyunkwan University, Korea)

SKKU’s International Summer Semester (ISS) creates a wonderful platform that truly brings people together. As in previous years, I had the pleasure of teaching the AI course to students from all corners of the globe with varied academic interests. We also explored additional facets of AI outside of the classroom which I hope students found enriching. Each summer, I leave the ISS with memorable interactions, genuine connections and fresh insights that continue to inspire my teaching.

Kyung Eun Park (Wilkes University, USA)

Teaching a summer semester class at SKKU ISS has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me.
Seeing the students' bright energy and willingness to actively participate during class and various cultural events, I could sense that they truly enjoyed the ISS program.
Furthermore, spending meaningful time with young people eager to learn and explore new courses and cultures has been a source of great inspiration, joy, and fulfillment for me.

Hyunkag Cho (Michigan State University, USA)

The ISS at Sungkyunkwan University is an energetic, international summer program that brings students together from around the world for fast-paced, discussion-driven courses.
In my class, for example, students aren't just sitting through lectures - they're diving into cultural debates. Every day, they join new small groups to tackle questions like "Why do you love (or hate) spicy food - and what does that say about your culture?" or "Why do some cultures smile more than others in social settings?" These rotating discussions spark fresh insights and often spill over into lunch conversations.
It's a short but vibrant experience - part academic sprint, part cultural exchange. You'll leave with new perspectives, new friendships, and stories worth sharing.

Sukki Yoon (Bryant University, USA)

Teaching at SKKU’s ISS was a truly rewarding experience. In a typical classroom, I had students from over a dozen countries — like a mini United Nations, but with better group projects. The mix of Eastern and Western perspectives made every discussion lively and eye-opening. I often felt I was learning just as much as I was teaching. It was global education at its best.

Seok Kang (The University of Texas at San Antonio, USA)

Through an experiential and reciprocal class, the 2025 Sung Kyun Kwan University International Summer Semester made deeply enriching moments for me. When I witnessed my students’ contemplation and actions to change the world through impactful digital storytelling, I was reaffirmed that they will be innovative thinkers and transformative leaders in their fields. I appreciate SKKU for this invaluable opportunity.

David Park (Syracuse University, USA)

The ISS offers a truly inspiring blend of cultural exchange, academic rigor, and collaborative spirit. The program brings together an exceptional group of students and faculty from around the world, fostering meaningful dialogue and dynamic classroom engagement. I was particularly impressed by the students’ energy, curiosity, and willingness to learn from one another, which made every session a joy to teach. The ISS provides a uniquely stimulating academic environment, and I am grateful to be part of its continued success. I eagerly anticipate returning and contributing again in the future. Simply put, the ISS is one of the best programs that students and faculty can experience.

Mansoo Yu (University of Missouri, USA)

It has been an incredible experience to meet passionate and talented students from around the world through the SKKU International Summer Semester (ISS). In my classes, for example, we enjoy discussing topics, such as global mental health through the lens of social epidemiology, and social problems in relations to the UN Sustainable Development goals (SDGs). Moreover, the SKKU ISS provides opportunities to experience Korea's rich history and vibrant culture, while giving students the chance to make friends from other countries, fostering meaningful international connections. It's a truly holistic experience that blends intellectual growth with cultural and personal development. I can't wait to see you soon!

Thomas Christiansen (Maastricht University, the Netherlands)

The International Summer Semester at SKKU is a unique occasion for students from all over the world to come together, to study a range of topical subjects while exploring the great city of Seoul and learning about the ancient, as well as the modern culture of Korea. For me, as a professor teaching a course on international relations, it has been an incredible experience to discuss the key issues in world politics with students from many diverse backgrounds. The truly international character of the ISS obliges all participants to re-examine their beliefs and to examine global challenges from a variety of perspectives, creating a perfect learning environment.

Chuyun Oh (San Diego State University, USA)

SKKU ISS was a transformative and exuberant journey with students from across the world. Students experienced K-pop's traditional and contemporary side beyond the classroom, immersed in lively Seoul, the birth of K-pop.

Navrati Saxena (Sungkyunkwan University, Korea)

The SKKU ISS presents a tremendous opportunity for participants to delve into current issues at the interface of society, technology, and globalization. I am excited by the prospect of meeting all of you!

Fei-Ling Wang (Georgia Tech, USA)
